Lares valley trek , shows you villagers where people wears traditional clothes, bright red and its varying shades of natural dyes, oranges and pinks and red; lares trek leads by a place in Peru where people continues using Quechua as main language. Our adventure tour departs from cusco, in a private transport by the same way to pisaq, untill arriving to huaran ,a village in the sacred valley of incas (2.950 masl, 9673 ft), So, our trek officially starts at this point, by a nice, and quite valley, on smooth uphill in the first section, following parts of original inca trail, this area shows abundant flora consisting in native trees.
After about 4 hours trek on medium challenge trek the group arrives the lunch spot, on a ravine at river stream, where delicious lunch waits and provides energy for the rest of trek, from lunch the trail leads by gently uphill arriving in about 2.5 more hours to cancha cancha community (4.000 masl, 13,192 ft), this place provides an excellent view of snowy mountains.
The village itself, is kind of medieval village looking, where people walks on their typical dress, kids behind llamas, is just nice. lares valley trek 1st day waking time is about 7 hrs and 10 km.
We start slowly uphill until reaching accopata, an extension of cancha cancha mommunity, in the lares valley we will see llama shepherds, living in their stone and straw roof huts. The trail, during this day, goes from quiswarani to the lares town, a nice picturesque town, from which tour takes the name. The trails is generally downhill easy walking section, after about one our we follow the main road to lares.
We pass through pretty farmlands and green vegetation nestled in a green valley, lares with its few streets can only be described as quiet and nice, we continue towards the hot springs, where we take a well deserved soak. After lunch we continue agentle path for about 3 hours to the campsite in waca wasi village.
After an early breakfast, we re-start with this section of the trail, a brief ascent to the Huahuaqasa pass (4398 meters); then descent to Aruraycocha and Millpo lakes, which are formed by the melt waters of the Pumahuanca, and Capacsaya snow peaks. This is a spectacular days trekking, through the Urubamba Mountain Range, you will have ample opportunity to spot a number of Andean birds, including condors.
this part of the lares trail seems to be easier than other sections, after breakfast we descends by a lush, native polylepis tree forest, in about 3 hours we’ll reach the famous incas sacred valley, at the sector called yanahuara, a nice village at the end of this lares trek, with an agreeable weather at 2800 masl. this place is recommended to spend a weekend.
The tiny hamlet of yanahuara is located at only 1.20 minutes aut from cusco, with its terraces, slopes sown with corn and watered by the glacier water. at this site is the lastlunch given and after lunch a minivan takes you to the train station in the sacred valley and takes you to Machu Picchu town, where you will spend the night.
Early morning, take shuttle bus to Machu Picchu, where you’ll get a guided tour by one of our expert locals guides who will show you the most important sectors of Machu Picchu according itinerary, then you will return to town, and catch train to the sacred valley, and finally transfer to your hotel in Cusco city.
